London to Brighton Bike Ride 2025 - The Scenic Route

Join me on my latest adventure as I tackle the UK's most iconic charity event, the London to Brighton Bike Ride, a 54 mile ride from Clapham Common in the heart of London to the vibrant seaside town of Brighton... The prospect of taking part in this long established charity event was extremely appealing, the logistics of getting to London from my family home in Gloucestershire and back again from Brighton, a little less so. Hence the metaphoric cogs started whirring as I hatched a cunning plan to incorporate this as part of a broader and more challenging endeavour... So out came Google Maps and after copious 'cups of tea' and the odd digestive biscuit "I had a plan" which in short would involve cycling to London and upon completion of the official bike ride to Brighton, I would continue along the South coast to Poole in Dorset to stay with my sister Lynsey... after all it was Lynsey that had 'covertly' signed both of us up for this iconic event, hence it seemed somewhat fitting that the journey would finish where the original plan had been conceived! "Will you be joining me for the entire trip Lynsey" was of course my first and most obvious question, to which her response was an emphatic NO... so that was the end of that conversation... however, to be fair she does spend the majority of her spare time training and running ultra marathons so I'd probably have spent most of my time drafting 100 yards behind regretting I'd asked her to join me! But did we both have fun on the official L to B Ride... damn right we did!
