MEHRIBAN ALIYEVA HAS RECEIVED "THE PERSON OF THE YEAR" AWARD

A ceremony was held to present the “Person of the Year” award of the National Hero Chingiz Mustafayev Foundation and ANS Group of Companies to Azerbaijan’s first lady, president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO goodwill ambassador, MP Mehriban Aliyeva, on March 1. Mehriban Aliyeva was honored for her role as chair of the Organizing Committee in excellently delivering the first European Games, and her outstanding contribution to promoting Azerbaijan worldwide, ensuring mutual integration of Azerbaijani and global cultures, preserving and promoting multiculturalism in the country, and for her charity activity. Mustafayev presented the “Person of the Year” diploma and prize money to Mehriban Aliyeva. Mehriban Aliyeva addressed the event saying that the prize money would be transferred to the Rehabilitation Center for People with Down Syndrome, the construction of which was initiated by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. According to Mehriban Aliyeva the first European Games has a special place among memorable events of the previous year. She recalled that the presentation of the Games was held in many European capitals: "At these events, we talked not only about the achievements of Azerbaijan in the field of sport, but also its history, culture, past and present. Our goal is to popularize Azerbaijan in the world not only as a country with great energy, but also as a country with rich history and culture, she said adding that the Heydar Aliyev Foundation has made a huge contribution in this area. In different countries and cities around the world, we have conducted more than 250 cultural events. At each of these events, we try to bring to the world community the historical realities of Azerbaijan. Mehriban Aliyeva noted that this year the Foundation will celebrate the 12th anniversary of its activity. "Over the years, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation took part in the restoration of 50 religious, historical and cultural monuments in our country. At the same time we have participated in the restoration of more than 40 religious and cultural monuments in the world", - Mrs. Aliyeva underscored.
