What is pixel binning | Why do you need pixel binning in your smartphone ?

Pixel binning technology enables smartphones to capture good images in low light conditions. In Pixel binning technology, data captured by four pixels is combined into one and thus noise is reduced. However, the effect pixels in the photo also reduces. You will be surprised to know that given the same sensor size, more pixels actually increases noise in the photo, specially in low light condition.
