In this lesson we'll introduce the contactor, the principal interaction point between the control and power aspect of an electrically controlled system using motors. We'll learn to identify the power contacts, the coil, and auxiliary contacts on both the schematic and representative examples and discuss the purposes and function of each. Additionally, we'll discuss auxiliary contact blocks, armatures, contact carriers, shading coils, mechanical interlocks, and coil and contactor specifications and construction, utilization categories and sizing, means of extinguishing arcs, and contrast general purpose electrically held contactors with mechanically held contactors and solid state contactors. ___________________ If you wish to support this project please visit the Patreon page at: / bigbadtech ___________________ Copyright information: Use this lecture.
