After receiving an urgent call, Cheryl Martinez, from Pilots To The Rescue, jumps into action—racing across New Jersey in our PTTR Sprinter van, lovingly known as “Waggin’ Wheels.” Her mission? To meet Lorri from Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter, whose van full of rescue dogs and cats just broke down mid-transport. These animals were previously flown to Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter by Pilots To The Rescue after being saved from euthanasia, where they were matched with loving adopters, and are now just hours away from meeting their forever families. With time ticking and stress building, Cheryl calls on Mackenzie—one of PTTR’s volunteer rescue pilots who already flew a mission earlier that day—to ask the impossible: Can she do one more emergency flight to save these pets from being stuck overnight? Mackenzie agrees, and while she preps the plane, Cheryl transfers every crate—each holding a scared, hopeful animal—into the PTTR van and heads back to base. This episode highlights the behind-the-scenes intensity, compassion, and teamwork that make animal rescue possible. While some scenes have been dramatized for storytelling, every featured animal in this episode was rescued and given a second chance at life. This series was created to raise awareness about the growing crisis of shelter overcrowding, to spotlight the heroes working behind the scenes, and to inspire more people to adopt—not shop. Want to make a difference? Visit your local animal shelter, consider opening your heart and home to a foster or adoptable pet, and help us spread the word. Every share, every donation, and every act of compassion brings us one step closer to saving more lives.
