“State of the Milton Township” community presentation, featuring Township Supervisor Elizabeth "Buffy" Higgins-Beard who will update attendees on Township priorities and programs. Mike Drew, Milton Highway Commissioner also presents. This event was hosted by the League of Women Voters of Glen Ellyn and the League of Women Voters of Wheaton and took place on February 26th, 2026. BIOS Elizabeth “Buffy” Higgins-Beard, Milton Township Commissioner, is an experienced leader of local, regional and national nonprofits. She is a 40+ year DuPage County resident and was elected to the position in April, 2025. She has worked at the DuPage wide nonprofit People’s Resource Center, and as CEO at a new national office of The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award USA. She is very active as a volunteer in the community including Girl Scouts, Scouting America, Arts DuPage and United Way. Higgins-Beard holds a Master’s of Public Health from University of Michigan and a Bachelor’s of Arts and Sciences from Drake University. Mike Drew, Milton Highway Commissioner, has dedicated his career to the labor and construction industry as an operating engineering, spending most of his years in the field on tower cranes. Following this extensive experience, he transitioned to a role as a Business Agent with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 150, where he actively engages with union members in Cook and DuPage Counties. His responsibilities include advocating for workers' rights, promoting fair wages, ensuring safe working conditions, and fostering equitable treatment. He was elected to Highway Commissioner for Milton Township in April of 2025. Mike Drew has longstanding family ties to the community. He was born and raised in Milton Township. He raised his family in Wheaton and continues to live in the township.
