Road- sweeping machine clearing the street STORYLINE A suicide car bomber slammed into a truck carrying Iraqi policemen near the airport on Thursday, killing at least eight and wounding 25 - the latest violent attack aimed at derailing Iraq's advancing political process. The highway, which leads to Baghdad International airport, has been frequently targeted by militants. Officials said that the suicide bomber plowed his car at high speed into a truck carrying police officers from checkpoint to checkpoint. The officers were part of an evening shift replacing other officers at the checkpoints, police officials said. They added that at least eight officers were killed, though an APTN crew filming the aftermath of the attack was told by eyewitnesses that the death toll might be as high as 15.
