George Braque (1882-1963) was a French artist who played a significant role in the development of the art movement known as Cubism. He was born in Argenteuil, France, and studied painting at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. In the early 1900s, Braque began experimenting with the techniques and aesthetics of Post-Impressionism and Fauvism. In 1907, he met Pablo Picasso, and the two artists began working closely together, exchanging ideas and techniques. Together, they developed a new style of art known as Cubism, which revolutionized the way artists approached the representation of three-dimensional objects on a two-dimensional canvas.
