Today we'll be building a bow string in the continuous or endless loop style. This method uses a one arm string jig. You can find the jig here : • One Arm Endless Bow String Jig The jig makes it a little easier to make a string but is not mandatory. If you want to build a string without the one arm jig, a simpler method can be found here: • How to Make a Continuous Loop Bow String This is a good general string for any traditional bow. I'm using B50 Dacron on this string, though any strong and low-stretch material will make a good string. Specra and Dacron fishing line, polyester and Dacron heavy thread, polyester kite line, Dyneema dental floss among other materials will work very well. Nylon has a tendency to be springy (even when pre-stretched) and will rob your bow of power. You can also use Flast Flight (Dyneema or Spectra). If you are in colder temperatures (under 35 degrees F), stick to dacron or polyester for PVC bows. I've had fast flight snap PVC bow nocks (even when reinforced) at cold temperatures. With a good forgiving string, I've had no problems. If you prefer a more traditional string that can be made without a jig, you can make a counter-twist or flemish splice string : • How to Make a Counter-Twist Bow String Wit...
