SPITFIRE SM520 flying at Goodwood aerodrome | Spitfires.com | Pleasure flights in Spitfires

The sight and sound of Supermarine Spitfire SM520, and the North American T-6G Texan (KF402), were unexpected bonuses when we called in at the Goodwood circuit cafe earlier this year. Needless to say these aviation gems, coupled with fantastic weather, made for a very enjoyable couple of hours. In this video the Spitfire is shown being prepared for a pleasure flight for one lucky member of the public, before it taxies off to the holding point and takes to the sky, its Merlin engine sounding as wonderful as ever. SM520 (civilian registration G-ILDA) was built as a single seat Mk. H.F.IXe fighter in 1944, its transformation into a two-seater took place during a rebuild several years ago, enabling it to now be used for paid pleasure flights for the lucky few. A number of Spitfires now reside at Goodwood aerodrome, itself a fighter station in WW2 under the name of RAF Westhampnett. In addition to the Spitfire, I've included footage of other sightings during our brief weekday visit to Goodwood, including KF402, a North American T-6G Texan. While this channel is primarily focused on road-going transport, from time to time I like to include other forms of transport and a number of aviation-related vids are dotted across the channel's content.
