BMW M4 GTS on track - BMW M Experience day at Oulton Park 2017 - Joe Achilles

BMW experience days - https://drivingexperiences.bmw.co.uk/ BMW UK invited me down to one of their all new M Driving Experience days at Oulton Park. I started the day trying out the BMW M2, then a M4 Competition Pack, lastly a M6 Coupe, I believe this was called product testing, it was more about learning the circuit and getting a basic feel of what the different M cars feel like on track, i.e. not going flat out. I was then taken out for a passenger lap in a M235i track car. After that, I was given three laps in a BMW M4 GTS, something I thought would never happen! Then we got to play in some M3 Comp Packs around a slippery marked out carpark. Lastly we had 2 x 20 min sessions in the M4 Master cars, these are basically stock M4's with roll cages and better brake pads, after the first session you get to see all of your data against Touring car legend Paul O'Neils bench mark time from the same car. I only got one clear lap in my final session in MDM mode and managed to post a lap time only 1.5 seconds away from legendary Touring Car driver Paul O'Neil (I also had a 90kg instructor in the car, just saying haha) This was only my third time on a track and I've never been to Oulton Park before, it looks fairly simple on a 2D map, once you're behind the wheel you soon realise its fairly complex, many undulations and tricky off camber braking zones... The full BMW M driving experience costs £595, when you consider the actual track driving time, excellent pro instructors and genuine fun had, this is very good value! You get track time in the BMW M2, M4, M6 and M4 track prepared cars, you get to compare V-box data between sessions, you also get a M3 comp to play around on a skid pan, wonderful meals are provided during the morning or afternoon sessions too.
