The following year, during his only airplane flight, he was ejected from a malfunctioning plane that subsequently crashed, although no records support this event. Selak continued to encounter perilous situations, including surviving a bus accident in 1966, car fires in 1970 and 1973, and a collision with a bus in 1995. Notably, in 1996, he avoided a fatal crash by clinging to a tree after his car fell 300 feet. On his 73rd birthday, he won €900,000 in the lottery, which he later shared with family and friends, choosing a modest lifestyle. Despite his remarkable stories, none of Selak's near-death experiences have been independently verified, and inconsistencies in his accounts have been noted.
