A summary of findings from the DiversiTree project - 'Diversifying our woodlands to increase resilience'. Combining microbiology, ecology and social science to examine the role of tree species diversification to improve resilience in UK woods and forests - from microbes to minds. Highlights of this video include answers to the following questions: How many species use Scots pine? How many of these are birds, mosses, fungi, invertebrates, lichens or mammals? How many of these species are ONLY found on Scots pine? Which other tree species support the biodiversity associated with Scots pine? What role does tree species diversity plan for the microbiome of a tree? DiversiTree is a project funded by the UKRI 'Future of UK Treescapes' Programme. Collaborators and partners include: James Hutton Institute, Bangor University, University of Birmingham, Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, RSPB, Woodland Trust, Forest Research and Nature Scot. DiversiTree aims to increase woodland resilience & enhance understanding of the impacts of diversifying tree species composition. #Treescapes #woods #woodland #trees #forestry #conservation #research #Sitkaspruce #Scotspine #CaledonianPinewoods #Socialscience #microbiology
