This Jazz Piano Tutorial is about sus or suspended chords. These are chords where the 3rd is replaced with the 2nd or (usually) the 4th. These create a much more ambiguous and floating sound, which does not necessarily need to be resolved. In Jazz, sus chords are usually extended to sus9 or susb9 chords. These are generally voiced a F/G or D-7/G. The sus chord can act as a substitute for the II or the V or both the II and the V in a II-V-I progression.
