"Grandma (94) Swears by These Foods for a Long and Healthy Life!" At 94, Mangala Devi Karki is a true embodiment of resilience, strength, and unwavering determination. Widowed for over 40 years, she has dedicated her life to her family and community through her culinary skills. Raising three children alone—two of whom have disabilities—she has faced immense hardships. Her struggles are further compounded by her son, Ram Bahadur Karki, whose battle with alcoholism continues to add challenges to their already fragile household. In November 2023, a powerful 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck western Nepal, severely damaging Mangala Devi’s aging home. With no resources to repair the cracks running deep through the walls, she continued to live in unsafe conditions, relying on her inner strength to persevere. Although humanitarian organizations like Lutheran World Relief, IOM, and USAID assessed the situation, it was the Red Cross Society,Sita Bhujel From USA,Mahesh Karki her Grandson that became the primary supporter in her time of need. With the help of the Red Cross Society, local government, and her family, Mangala Devi’s journey is now one of rebuilding and hope—a testament to the enduring power of love, community, and the collective spirit that pushes through adversity.
