Why Isn’t My Lithops Splitting/Why Is My Lithops Shrinking Question From Facebook Answered

This was a question I got on Facebook, were a viewer asked why when his lithops went to produce a new set of leaves they were so much smaller, and why they weren’t growing. I immediately asked if they were purchased from a big box store, and he said yes! So I told him I’d seen this quite a lot, and this is my explanation of what’s happening.
