I was testing one of my 34401a multimeters for sale and realized I hadn't checked AC current. Proceeded to do so and got highly inaccurate results. This led me to be sad as I initially concluded that this otherwise beautiful condition 34401a was damaged. But then I cross-checked with the 3 other 34401a meters I had in stock and got the same skewed / wrong results. Now I'm wondering if my DMMCheck Plus is bad, so I check it with my Keysight 34465A and it reads 1mA dead on accurate. HMM...... After some research and finding another individual with the same issue on the EEVBlog forums, I found that the 34401a was never spec'd to read AC current below 50mA with any degree of accuracy. Never knew. Forum thread I got that from below: https://www.eevblog.com/forum/repair/... Aside from the information in the video, there is apparently an unsupported way to activate the 10mA range for AC current on the 34401a through GPIB commands. See linked below EEVBlog threads for details on that. https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgea...
