Ilyushin IL-62, Hellenic C-27, Luftwaffe A340 | Highlights Aviation Frankfurt

Dear friends, the traffic in FRA is reduced. But during the last weeks we got some very nice visitors again. The "most wanted" visitor was the Ilyushin IL-62MGr. As you can see, it activates the reverser a few seconds before touchdown - which is a normal procedure. It's a Soviet long-range narrow-body jetliner conceived in 1960 by Ilyushin. With a capacity for 200 passengers the Il-62 was the world's largest jet airliner at that time. The Il-62M variant (introduced in 1973) has more powerful, efficient and quieter Soloviev D-30KU engines and a fin fuel tank. Beneath the skin, the Il-62M has simpler and lighter single-slotted flaps and incremental aerodynamic improvements. The Il-62MGr is the Cargo version of Il-62M.
