BRASS FROM THE PAST: Rare 1956 Martin Imperial Flugelhorn. Made in Elkhart, Indiana. This flugelhorn was once owned and played by Gil Hebard of Knoxville, Illinois. He was the nation’s fourth largest gun dealer and is in the National Rifle Association Hall of Fame in 1999 as Handgunner of the year. He also had his own big band orchestra in the 60s & 70s. Miles Davis played a Martin Committee flugelhorn almost identical to this one. Listen to sounds from the past. About 65 years ago. I’m playing along with Miles Davis on his solo of “Freddie Freeloader”.
