The Wassily Chair (B3) was designed by Marcel Breuer at The Bauhaus in 1927 (possibly 1925?). Apparently named after Breuer's friend at the Bauhaus, Wassily Kandinsky, remarked he liked the chair! Originally with a looping tubular steel frame, here I attempt to see if some sort of wooden recreation is possible. It is but a few changes had to be made as wood behaves quite differently to tubular steel. This original wooden Wassily is still going though, used all the time at home. It served as a valuable test bed for what's possible with looping frame designs in wood. Further subtle but significant design changes have been made to the wooden Wassily since the original in this video, as has the joinery used in my looping wooden frames more generally. This design and build method opens up many possibilities for a whole design collection, some of which I'll share in future videos. / bischbasch
