When light encounters a surface, it can bounce back or reflect off the surface. The laws of reflection describe how light behaves during this process. The laws of reflection state the following: The incident ray, the reflected ray, and the normal to the surface at the point of incidence all lie in the same plane. The angle of incidence (θᵢ) is equal to the angle of reflection (θᵣ), measured with respect to the normal. Key terms associated with reflection of light: Incident ray: The ray of light that strikes the surface. Reflected ray: The ray of light that bounces off the surface. Normal: A line perpendicular to the surface at the point where the incident ray strikes it. Angle of incidence: The angle between the incident ray and the normal. Angle of reflection: The angle between the reflected ray and the normal.
