This was a trip with a Niki Rotor Aviation Kallithea gyroplane to explore the Owens Valley of California. Starting from Lone Pine, all the way up to Lake Crowley and beyond. The valley floor itself is at 4,000 feet elevation, so most of the flying was done way above our usual altitudes. The machine had no problem climbing and performing flawlessly with its beast of an engine, the Rotax 915iS. The enclosed cabin ensured a comfortable ride while the outside air temperature above 10,000 feet was a bit on the chilly side. There are enough airports in the area for topping off the gas tank, so if you ever decide to visit this magnificent area, fuel should not be something you need to worry about. The gyroplane brings you close to the action, at the fraction of the cost of a helicopter. Please contact Peter (peter@lagyro.com) to learn more about these awesome machines.
