Bridget Phillipson's schools bill is back in the Commons today. The scope of the legislation is twofold: firstly, looking at the welfare of children in schools and secondly at fundamentally changing the landscape of secondary education by doing away with academies (and with it the legacy of the previous Conservative government on education). The plan has been read by many as Labour pandering to the unions and perhaps even prioritising the adults (union members) over the children. What is motivating Labour? What's the vision of change here? Deputy political editor James Heale speaks to The Spectator's editor Michael Gove and Amanda Spielman, former head of Ofsted. #schools #education // SUBSCRIBE TO THE SPECTATOR Get 12 issues for £12, plus a free £20 John Lewis/Waitrose voucher https://www.spectator.co.uk/tvoffer // FREE PODCASTS FROM THE SPECTATOR Hear more from The Spectator's journalists on their podcasts, covering everything from the politics of the UK, US and China, to religion, literature, lifestyle and more. https://www.spectator.co.uk/podcasts/ // FOLLOW US / spectator / officialspectator / the-spectator / spectator1828 / thespectatormagazine
