Which doctrine of final punishment–Eternal Torment or Conditional Immortality–is most compatible with the Christian doctrine of a substitutionary atonement? In this presentation, Chris Date of Rethinking Hell argues cogently that it is Conditionalism which makes far better sense of the substitutionary death of Jesus Christ, in which Jesus substituted for others by his death.
