If you like what I do and want to support the channel, consider buying me a drink: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/hellboundHS Don’t Panic is often listed as a tribute to the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise, but how much does it actually have in common with the Freddy Krueger films? It wasn’t just America trying to cash in on the Nightmare on Elm Street craze. Krueger mania was felt across the world and it seemed like everyone was ready for more Freddy. Different countries adopted the ideas found in the elm street films and made it their own. They weren’t concerned with appealing to an English western audience. They changed details to better fit their culture, but we’re not talking about those films just yet. Even though tonight’s proclaimed elm street rip-off hails from Mexico, it was made with American audiences in mind, at least partially. Don’t Panic or Dimensiones Ocultas was written and directed by Ruben Galindo Jr. who is a cult Mexican director who is finally starting to get much needed appreciation here in the States through his Vinegar Syndrome releases.
