Itanagar, Sept 9: The state government has ordered a high-level probe into the death of Smti Bengia Ama Gora at Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS), Naharlagun. A consultative meeting was held at the Civil Secretariat under the chairmanship of the Health & Family Welfare Minister, attended by government officials, representatives of the Abu Hagung Ku Society (AHKS), and the bereaved family members. The family, supported by AHKS, alleged medical negligence and demanded strict action against those responsible. After detailed deliberations, the following decisions were taken: 1. A high-level inquiry committee has been constituted under the Deputy Commissioner, Yupia. 2. Action will be taken against any medical staff found negligent, based on the committee’s report. 3. TRIHMS will not take responsibility for the upbringing of the newborn left behind. 4. The government will strictly enforce the ban on private practice by government doctors. Meanwhile, the victim’s family has issued an ultimatum, stating that if justice is not delivered within seven days, they will bury the deceased’s body on the premises of TRIHMS on the morning of the eighth day.
