With the island's new capital of Buka separated from the mainland, Edwina's journey starts and ends by boat with plenty of water in between. The road to Arawa, the old capital destroyed during the conflict, is almost devoid of bridges so swollen river crossings by four wheel drive being just one of the hazards facing aid delivery in this troubled region.
