On October 4th, 2024, at approximately 1:15PM, officers responded to 600 Northside Drive NW in reference to an active burglary. Upon arrival, officers were flagged down by the 911 caller/witness who pointed out to officers that a black male suspect wearing all black was fleeing from the area on a bicycle. Officers immediately began to canvass the area for the suspect and though he attempted to elude officers using his bicycle, the officers were eventually able to locate the suspect, and placed him into custody without further incident. Following the suspect being apprehended, officers discovered that the suspect was featured in a BOLO for another burglary that was sent out by burglary detectives on the previous day. A search of the suspect's belongings pursuant to the arrest, revealed that the suspect had in his possession a number of tools which are commonly utilized to commit burglaries. The suspect was later identified as 62-year-old Bobbie Bennett. Mr. Bennett was charged with 2nd Degree Burglary, Felony Damage to Property, Possession of Tools for the Commission of a Crime, and Possession of Drug Related Objects. Mr. Bennett was transported to the Fulton County jail for processing. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
