Collaboration among scientists with different backgrounds and expertise is essential for strong science investigations. It allows for scientists to answer questions that have complicated components and multifaceted implications. In this video, we explore how a diverse group of scientists on board the Research Vessel Knorr work together during a 5-week oceanographic cruise in the North Atlantic Ocean to understand how the interaction between phytoplankton and viruses across temporal and spatial scales impact Earth’s carbon cycle. Produced for Rutgers University - Department of Marine and Coastal sciences by Tilapia Film in association with Mind Open Media Principal Investigators: Kay Bidle - Rutgers University Ben Van Mooy - Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Jack Ditullio - College of Charleston Assaf Vardi - Weizmann Institute of Science Marco Coolen - Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Special thanks to: Rose Eveleth for documenting all of the scientific activities during the cruise. Captain Kent Sheasley and crew of the R/V Knorr for all of their help and support at sea. WHOI Marine Operations TEAM for helping us plan all of the cruise logistics.
