Popotla is located in B.C. (Baja California) and is known for its fishing village. The magic is on old school spot where you can nab the catch of the day and have it prepared by the many kitchen's/restaurants which dot the shoreline. Boats pull right and make their offerings available. We did a day trip and had a great time. There is nothing fancy about the place except the no-frills offering of fresh seafood served/prepared with great hospitalities from the locals. This short clip is an aerial view from the drone with the still shots included. Parking is 70 pesos or $3.50. To use the bano (organized outhouse) it will cost you 10 pesos or 50 cents and if needed, you will need your own toilet paper. Popotla is a great find if you are the adventurous type and love to experience the culture at ground zero. *TRAVEL TIP* 1. If you are coming in from the USA (or another country) it is strongly advised you exchange your money BEFORE you arrive. 2. We drove in and made sure we had legitimate Mexican Auto Insurance. After shopping around I found a good deal from AAA which was about $24. 3. You don't need to show anything to enter (for the most part) but you will need to show legitimate ID (We didn't take any chances and brought out passports). 4. Upon exit, customs will ask what you are taking back with you. Be honest and know the limits versus having them pop the trunk and finding something you did not verbally declare. 5. Seafood. Can be dicey but for the most part fisherman will be at the beach showcasing their catch. You simply negotiate the price and they will take it to whichever restaurant/cook on the beach to prepare it for you. They will provide the price for preparation. Also, do not be surprised if you need to pay/tip the person who cleans the seafood for you. 6. You will notice two roads which go along the coast. One is the toll road, quicker but expect to pay 40 pesos or $2 every 15 miles or so. The other is the coast road where you will have some stop signs, etc. and perfect if you have time and want to do some sightseeing. THERE IS NO TOLL.
