Participatory district energy planning supported by urban digital twins- Insights from an in-depth case study I Nils Egger and Franziska Lauth Nils Egger is a research associate at the Center for Interdisciplinary Risk and Innovation Studies (ZIRIUS) at the University of Stuttgart, Germany. He studied sociology and economics at the University of Zurich, Switzerland and sociology and environmental studies at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich, Germany. Since May 2023, he is part of the research initiative Discursive Transformation of Energy Systems. There he studies and develops new digitally supported governance approaches for participatory and holistically sustainable energy transformations of urban neighbourhoods. Franziska Lauth is a research associate at the Center for Interdisciplinary Risk and Innovation Studies (ZIRIUS) at the University of Stuttgart, Germany. With a background in political science, she is part of the research initiative Discursive Transformation of Energy Systems. Her work focuses on social scientific stakeholder and conflict analyses in the municipal heat transition and on how digital tools in this field can be designed and used in a participation-oriented manner. The talk was given at the Urban Digital Twins for a Sustainable Transformation of Cities conference at City Science Lab, HafenCity University Hamburg, Germany.
