Owned and Operated by Mr. K.T. Mathew and his son Mr. Arun Mathew. Mr. K.T. Mathew, who loves plants and who likes agriculture had decided to do research on plants. He found out that nutmeg is a useful species of plant. He had studied and grown 55 breeds of seeds. He realized that one mace contains 60% Oleoresins. He planted this specific species in his farm. Customers have the facility to visit the farm and familiarize about the breed. Kinattukara Nutmeg Nursery won the ISO 9001:2000 award of American National Accreditation Board (ANAB) in 2008. Our business has clients in different states in India and trying to export to foreign countries. Interested persons can visit our nursery at any time. History of Nutmeg Nutmeg can be used for 3 generations. Market value is generally stable. No diseases. Caring is comparatively easy. Planting tips Elevation 50 feet to 2000 feet above sea level is suitable for planting nutmegs. Method The size of the pit must be 1 feet in height, depth and width. A mixture containing 5kg cow dung or 5kg wormy compost, 300g bone meal, and 100g neem cake is used as potting mixture. To plant, insert the young plant in the pit and fill the pit with the potting mixture. To increase the growth of the plant: Slurry the roots after 6 months of planting Spray Bordeaux mixture every June or July. Water the plants in summer The plants need 25% shade during the growth Mulling cow dung with compost will help to avoid horsehair fungus in summer. Use fungicide to avoid fungus in monsoon. Processing Remove the mace from the seed and dry under the sun for 3 days. Dry the nuts for 5 days. We can keep the dried items in an air tight jar up to one year. Result 8 year old plant will give 3000 nutmegs per year. One plant will yield up to Rs. 7000/-. The distance between each plant should be 28 feet. We can plant 60 plants in an acre. There should be one male plant for every 15 female plants. Budded male plants are also available in our nursery. Availability Different kinds of nutmeg plants are available in the nursery. The categorization depends on the growth of the plant and budding methods. Budding methods are as follows: 1. Skin bud or Patch bud 2. Crown bud 3. Approach Grafting 4.
