Welcome to the Waterfront Communities C8 also known as the Toronto Waterfront east of Yonge Street. The boundaries of this community are Lake Ontario to the south, Yonge Street to the west, Front Street and Eastern Avenue to the north and the Don Valley Parkway to the east. The Gardiner Expressway runs horizontally through the lower portion of this community from east to west. A number of Toronto landmarks are located in this community including the Hockey Hall of Fame. Many of the restaurants have outdoor patios with brightly coloured flowers and patio umbrellas. The GO trains can be seen making their way towards Union Station. The architecture is a mix of old-style brick buildings and new condominium developments. The developers in the area have chosen to renovate the inside of old buildings while maintaining the look of the community. This means that pedestrians can enjoy their Starbucks or shop at WINNERS inside original brick architecture. TTC buses service this waterfront community. The St. Lawrence Market is located in this community and was rated the number one food market by National Geographic. This community is home to the Young People's Theatre. Although waterfront real estate has a reputation for being high-rise living only, although there is major development in the area the vast majority of the community is pedestrian friendly parks and retail and streets lined with townhouses and semi-detaches homes. Along The Esplanade is a long strip of parkland where residents can bring their children to play on the playscapes, read on park benches and cycle and jog along the sidewalks. On the south side of the Gardiner Expressway is Sherbourne Common, a George Brown Campus and an open boardwalk right beside the lake. There is also an artificial beach for residents and tourists, a Loblaws, and a complex of nightclubs including The Guvernment for a night out. Along the waterfront is also Captain John's Seafood, an iconic themed restaurant. Thank you for viewing the Waterfront Communities C8.
