This year, America celebrates 250 years of independence; 250 years of Enlightenment ideals; 250 years of the rhetoric of republican virtue and government, even if our history is more complicated than that. Salve Regina University scholars reflected on the history of America’s founding, the legacy of events 250 years ago, and the challenges to those enduring ideals, today. Panelists included Dr. Mary Anderson, professor of political science and Brodsky Chair in U.S. Constitutional Democracy and Culture, Dr. William Leeman, professor of history and director of Salve Regina's Pell Honors Program, and Colin Woodard, director of the Pell Center's Nationhood Lab initiative.
