SOLD Vintique Motors is thrilled to present this exceptional, 6,300 original mile, 1975 Honda CB550 Four K1! Introduced in January 1969, the Honda CB750 revolutionized the motorcycle industry as it was the first motorcycle from a mainstream manufacturer to come with electric starting and disc brakes. Additionally, the CB750s blend of performance, versatility, reliability, and convenience was unmatched by anyone else in the industry, especially at the price offered. Following on the success of the CB750, Honda decided to package that magic into smaller displacement bikes subsequently released the CB350, CB450, and CB500. The CB500 was essentially a CB750 that weighed roughly 80lbs lighter as the 498cc engine saved considerable weight which offered performance on par with the more powerful CB750. However, the CB500 came with some pitfalls such as its weak 5-speed transmission and rear suspension. Introduced in 1974, the CB550 aimed to correct these issues along with increasing the engine to 544cc giving it 50hp. This 1975 model is finished in beautiful Flake Sunrise Orange and is a highly original example with no modifications. It features all its original running equipment, and everything works flawlessly. It recently was treated to a basic servicing including oil and filter, a new battery, and new front brakes using OEM Honda parts. The tires are the original Bridgestone's with 1974 date codes. They are still in particularly good condition and hold set air pressure; however, it is advised to replace them if the next owner intends to drive it, otherwise, they are great for displaying in a collection with original tires. It is believed to have been sold new at Southwyck Honda in Maumee, Ohio. Per the handwritten notes in the Owner's manual, it is believed to have remained with the original owner for about 5 years from new until circa 1980 and with the 2nd owner for about 21 years from circa 1980 until April 1st, 2001 when it sold to its 3rd owner with a reported 5,765 miles. The 3rd owner housed it in his collection in Temperance, Michigan for 5 years from 2001 to 2006 when it sold to its 4th owner on April 9th, 2006 with a reported 5,776 miles. The 4th owner, from Morenci, Michigan, kept it in his collection for about 15 years from 2006 to 2021 when we purchased it for our private collection on 3/17/2021 with 6,277 miles and today it presents with just 6,280 miles. It comes complete with its original keys, the original owner's manual with handwritten notes on maintenance logs and an ownership change, original tool pouch with all the original tools, an OEM Honda oil filter, and remained of fresh Honda oil from the recent service.
