→ Join me as we continue our 777 loop between Los Angeles and Las Vegas! The humming stops at 27:17. This is an absolute avgeek's dream — 48 minutes on a widebody just behind the wing, getting a great view of this massive bird's lift making area! The reason United scheduled all these widebody flights on just this one day is still unknown — but either way, I took FULL advantage of them! Initially, my route that day was going to be LAS-LAX-LAS-SFO-LAS — all on 777's. But United saw how empty these flights were and ended up combining a bunch of the SFO flights into 1 flight practically eliminating any chance I had of getting on an SFO bound 777. It would have been the Star Alliance one too! Uggh. Moving on to the next adventure, though. We begin at LAX's gate 72A, where I just arrived from Las Vegas at, and push back. We get pushed all the way to the active taxiway since we are such a large bird and the ramp wants to avoid all that jetblast — which I don't blame them! At one point, I accidentally walked behind an E175 with their engines at idle and about got blown off my feet! No telling where my hat went... If that's what a regional jets' engine can do to a person, I don't wanna know what a GE90 would do... Anyway, with our route being SO short, we are given a flow time — so we sat in position on the active taxiway for over 15 minutes before being given clearance to taxi to the runway. The ENTIRE time, there was the God-awful ringing (not the humming you heard earlier) noise coming from the engines. Thank God the GoPro didn't capture it or this footage would be useless. After a short power nap, we throttle up and taxi to LAX's runway 25R for departure. We line up on runway 25R and add power to bring this giant metal tube to flying speeds. We rotate shortly after and climb out past the coast and out over the ocean, before turn hard left and heading back east. We climb over the San Gabriel Mountains, then cruise over the Mojave Desert — even being given delay vectors into Las Vegas. We begin our descent just as we start our delay vectors. We fly the downwind approach to LAS's runway 26L, giving us a great view of the airfield from the south. We swing around and fly back to the west, and land smoothly on runway 26L at LAS. Since widebody pilots tend to taxi slower, our taxi to, actually, American gate D14 was slightly lengthy. We park at gate D14, where this short widebody flight comes to a close. I hope you enjoy this short flight on the 777 as much as I did, and, as always, all the flight information you could ever desire can be found below! → Flight info: Airline: United Airlines Flight Number: 1856 Aircraft Type: Boeing 777-224ER Registration Number: N78001 Livery: Old United Seat: 43A Flight date: January 4, 2022 Passenger Count: 172/276 Departure Airport: Los Angeles International Airport, Los Angeles, California Arrival Airport: Harry Reid International Airport, Las Vegas, Nevada Departure Gate: 72A Arrival Gate: D14 Departure Time: 1:42PM PST (Schd. 1:45PMPST) (3 minutes EARLY) Arrival Time: 3:07PM PST (Schd. 2:59PM PST) (8 minutes LATE) Departure Runway: 25R Arrival Runway: 26L Flight Duration: (Including Taxi) 1 hour 25 minutes Link to Flight Route: https://flightaware.com/live/flight/N...
