Here's our First Look at Tier V Premium Japanese cruiser Yahagi. OVERVIEW: Health and armor are in line with light cruisers of the tier. Same with speed and handling characteristics. Fairly slow reload for the 152mm guns at 10 seconds. By comparison, Omaha, Marblehead, Murmansk, and Krasny Krym all reload in 7; Emerald in 7.5; Konigsberg's 150s are also 7.5. Only Emile Bertin's 13 second reload is slower than Yahagi for the tier and caliber. Good HE shell damage; lowest AP shell damage for her tier. Worst overall AP DPM for Tier V cruisers; HE DPM is below average, but not at the bottom. Most powerful torpedo armament of any Tier V cruiser: 2x4 centerline mounted torps with nearly 21k alpha damage and 10km range. Currently listed as Type 8 (which are Furutaka's stock torps), but they hit like Ibuki's upgraded torps. Most AA of any Tier V cruiser, narrowly edging out Emile Bertin and Krasny Krym. Best-in-tier detection radius. SUMMARY: Yahagi seems to be a ship best suited for hunting enemy destroyers. She will suffer greatly when engaged by enemy heavy cruisers and battleships if unable to drop detection. AA should be an asset at helping her maintain stealth.
