Prior to all of that, Ava was a country girl living on a family farm in rural North Carolina. She was well-known for living a glamorous life that included A-list Hollywood parties, passionate romances, and even a good amount of flamenco dancing in Madrid. When Gardner visited her older sister in New York City the summer after high school graduation in 1939, she ended up defining her life's path. She was discovered after the 17-year-old posed for a portrait with her brother-in-law, a photographer, during her visit. The young beauty was captured on camera in the window of his studio. And hence, the story of Ava Gardner began. Despite facing hardship during her childhood, Ava's stunning beauty and talent would eventually lead her to the silver screen. Throughout her career, Ava lived in several homes that showcased her glamorous lifestyle and adventurous spirit.
