Wide of summit STORYLINE: The leaders from the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries wrapped up rare talks on Sunday with a statement assuring the world of its environmental credentials and saying it was committed to supply, but without mention of the weakening dollar or hints at changing oil outputs. In the closing communique, OPEC Secretary General Abdullah Salem al-Badri played up stability of global energy markets, sustainable development, and the environment. He said OPEC countries also sought improved financial co-operation and that OPEC members associated their countries with all global efforts aimed at bridging the development gap and making energy available to the world's poor while protecting the environment. OPEC had earlier backed off from calls by certain members to include concerns over the falling U.S. dollar in the final declaration. However, Libya's oil policy head, Shokri Ghanem, said shortly before the closing ceremony that OPEC delegates did agree to discuss the impact of the weak dollar on the group's revenues, Dow Jones Neswires reported. Ghanem also confirmed to Dow Jones that Libya is to host the next heads of state summit in 2012, and that it wouldn't be contributing money in the meanwhile to a green technology fund that Saudi Arabia is setting up.
