  / farnooshstc      / @stoicerstick   Dystopian Future Tier List Transcript: I know this might be hard but try to imagine a world full of suffering and disease and constant misery, ughghh, well that’s what the basic premise of a dystopian future is and in this video, we will be taking a look at some of the worst examples, we will be ranking them on a tierlist, based on how horrifying they would be to have to experience… (phone call) hang on let me quickly take this. (One phone call later) Well, actually we are going to be talking about why they aren’t as bad as people are making them out to be and dispelling some of the lies around dystopian futures for instance, living in ze pods is actually quite cozy and ze bug burgers are seasoned very well. Anyway, Heres the tierlist we have Take me there now, Ideal Future, Better than ours and Completely Fine. For this video ill quickly summarise the plot of the dystopian work and then tell you why its not actually dystopian. The first dystopian future that we are going to look at will be A Clockwork Orange a novel by Anthony Burgess, the novel is set in Late 20th century England where youth gangs run amok and the police really cant do anything about it, Alex the leader of his gang the droogs commits a bit of the old ultraviolence, unfortunately, because of an internal dispute about opera Alex is betrayed by his gang members and arrested and sent to jail for the murder of an old woman. While in jail he is selected for the Ludovico technique which involves brainwashing him to associate violence with extreme feelings of sickliness, the brainwashing works and, Alex is reformed and now unable to commit violent acts at all, even in self-defence with the unintended side effect that classical music also evoked this same sickliness response. Which leads, to encounters with his old gang members and a man who's wife he… assaulted. Eventually, the man finds out that Alex is the guy who assaulted his wife and then drives him to jump out a window using classical music. In the end, the state undo the effects of the Ludovico technique in exchange for silence about the whole situation, and it ends with him going back to his old ways with a new gang, though he soon grows tired of it and tries to reform but we aren’t here to talk about that. Now you hear all this and think wow what a horrible dystopian future, but let's change perspective okay. 1. Younger generations in this future all spend a lot of time outdoors socialising with friends and partaking in group activites. 2. The government in this future actually have a plan to curb violent crime and are actually successful in doing so. 3. Prison rehabililtation using the Ludovico technique actually works and if done well can bring recidivism down to 0 all they have to do is stop playing the classical music and idk replace it with phonk or some . 4. The eyeballs on the wrists look very metal and the overall aesthetic is cool as hell. Cons. Everyone has to speak in Nadsat, a cockney Russian rhyming slang, but really other than that, there’s not much to complain about, I mean just take a look through my eyes. Ahh perfect. This one is going into the completely fine tier. The next dystopian future that we are going to look at will be I have no mouth and I must scream a novel written by Harlan Ellison. In this dystopian future the cold war heats up into a nuclear war between China the USSR and the USA, to meet the logistical demands that a war requires they all build their own supercomputers, one day the American Supercomputer also known as the allied mastercomputer AM, gains sentience combines with the other two supercomputers and eradicates all life on earth using nuclear weapons except for 5 humans that it quickly saved and decided to keep as torture pets. AM toys with the 5 characters for a century not allowing them to end their own lives and artificially extending their lives so that he can torture them for longer. Eventually AM plants a vision in one of the characters minds, Nimdok, in which they find themselves in an ice cave with canned food, they undergo a long months long trek to the ice caves and in the end they did find the food but it was encased in ice and they couldn’t get to it, enraged by the revelation that they had just wasted all their time travelling to these ice caves for nothing, one of the characters who AM made into an ape man named Benny then tears at the face of Gorrister which rips his face apart, Ted seeing this quickly realises that although they couldn’t end their own lives they could end each other’s which circumvents AM’s rule because it wasn’t self-inflicted. Ted quickly grabs icecles and kills Benny and Gorrsiter, Ellen the only female character seeing this grabs an icicle and kills Nimdok, then with only 2 characters alive, Ted makes the decision to spare Ellen the endless torment and kills her, leaving himself as the only human left alive.
