🚨 A shocking DUI arrest in Athens, Georgia has raised serious questions about underage drinking and reckless driving. On August 25, 2024, at 2:24 AM, Officer Nathaniel Franco of the Athens-Clarke County Police Department observed a black 2014 Jeep Wrangler being driven without headlights. The driver, later identified as 20-year-old UGA student Amelia Pappas, made a wide turn before pulling over. As Officer Franco approached, he immediately detected a strong odor of alcohol and noticed clear signs of impairment. Amelia initially denied drinking but later admitted to consuming alcohol earlier that evening at a fraternity house. She was asked to perform field sobriety tests, including the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN), Walk and Turn, and One Leg Stand. Amelia failed all three exercises, showing multiple indicators of intoxication. 📊 Breathalyzer Results At the Downtown Precinct, Amelia’s breath test revealed BAC levels of 0.256% and 0.243%, more than triple the legal limit of 0.08%. Officers also discovered that the “credit card” hidden in her bra was actually a fake Mississippi driver’s license, intended to misrepresent her age. ⚖️ Charges Filed Amelia was booked into Clarke County Jail and charged with: DUI – Alcohol (BAC over 0.08g) Driving without headlights 🔹 Legal Context & Fair Use Policy This video is produced in compliance with YouTube’s Fair Use Policy, which allows the use of public records and law enforcement footage for educational and news purposes.
