India’s oldest telecom giant, BSNL, just made a bold comeback with the soft launch of Quantum 5G FWA in Hyderabad — India’s first SIM-less 5G internet service. This isn’t just another 5G rollout. It’s a fully indigenous, fibre-free, plug-and-play broadband solution delivering speeds up to 980 Mbps, all without a SIM card. Powered by BSNL’s Direct-to-Device platform, the system auto-authenticates user devices, removing the need for physical SIMs. Built entirely on a homegrown stack, from the core to the radio access network, Quantum 5G is a testament to India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision. The pilot rollout covers 85% of homes in Hyderabad and is expanding to Bengaluru, Pune, Chandigarh, Vizag, Pondicherry, and Gwalior by September. Plans start at INR 999 for 100 Mbps and INR 1499 for 300 Mbps.
