Easter Glory by Leslie Condon - performed by the New York Staff Band (Bandmaster Ronald Waiksnoris) at the NYSB's 127th Annual Festival at Centennial Memorial Temple on April 27, 2014. Easter Glory is a three-movement suite, each movement describing in turn the events of Good Friday, Easter Saturday, and Easter Sunday. I. 'Day of Death' (Good Friday). The confused clamor of the 'Via Dolorosa' and the cruelty at Calvary is the dominant emotion and precedes the song 'The Wounds of Christ' which speaks of the ever-flowing love and grace of God. II. 'Day of Mourning' (Easter Saturday). A lamentation on an original setting by Leslie Condon of 'O Come and look awhile on Him', depicting the despair of Christ's followers. III. 'Day of Resurrection' (Easter Sunday). The disciples' initial reaction of bewilderment is portrayed with heraldic references to 'Hallelujah! Christ arose' and 'Easter Hymn', adding much to the effect. The quiet majesty of 'Easter Hymn' develops into exuberance at the assurance that 'Christ the Lord is risen today'. - Ray Bowes
