This guided meditation by SRF/YSS President Brother Chidananda is an excerpt from his Diwali talk entitled “The Inner Celebration of Diwali: Awakening to the Light of the Soul.” To watch the full talk, which was recorded during Brother Chidananda’s visit to India in 2019:    • The Inner Celebration of Diwali: Awak...   An integral part of the practice of meditation as taught by Paramahansa Yogananda and his line of gurus is to place the attention and gaze gently at the spiritual eye—the single eye of intuition and omnipresent perception at the Christ (Kutastha) center (ajna chakra) between the eyebrows. The deeply meditating devotee beholds the spiritual eye as a ring of golden light encircling a sphere of opalescent blue, and at the center, a pentagonal silver-white star. “At first when you look into that space it may be only darkness,” says Brother Chidananda as he begins this powerful guided meditation to awaken the divine light within, “but behind that darkness is the light of the soul, the very presence of Spirit in the human form.” He then leads a visualization of the spiritual eye and uses the words of Rabindranath Tagore’s chant “Light the Lamp of Thy Love” to illuminate how the transmuting power of the spiritual eye can permanently uplift our lives.
