Caption: Mary Alpern lives in an old apartment in Ithaca. She was able to have a heat pump installed through Sustainable Finger Lakes’ Clean Energy and Equity Pilot program. Her old heating system did not work very well so she was excited to have an updated system installed. During the summer, she also relied on a noisy window air conditioner so she is very excited for the heat pump’s quiet technology once the weather warms up! Thanks to Halco, Sustainable Finger Lakes, and NYSERDA, Mary can stay warm in the winter and cool in the summer while also saving energy. The CO2 reduction for the work done on the entire building is keeping 400 tons of CO2 out of the atmosphere!
