I recently went to Cairo to record music for an upcoming documentary about ancient Egypt. Let's take a walk through the history of music in a world long gone but still felt today in it's influence. I will show you instruments hailing from over 4000 years ago like the Lyre, the Lute, the Simsimiyya, the Gandouh, the Tanbura, the Kawala, the Arghul, the Rababa, the Mizmar, various percussion instruments like the Daf, the Tabla and the Duhola and many other instruments along the way. We will also explore the evidence we have of what melodies, scales, harmonies and tuning systems the Egyptians were using all those millennia ago. So take a deep dive with me into the music of the Pharaoh's and beyond....
