The Legendary Iranian Actress Apick Youssefian Biography Description The actress and producer was one of the pioneers in theater, film and television in pre-revolutionary Iran. Her career started at a very young age with the Jaffari Theater Group, followed by starring roles for the Oskoui Theater Group. She won recognition as Best Actress two years in a row from the Iranian national press. Throughout her 60-year career, Apick starred in nine feature films and numerous TV and stage productions. She was also the first woman making feature films and producing TV shows in Iran. She was so popular she was named mayor of her hometown of Vanak. In the States, Apick continued her acting career in such films as “Keeper” and “The Legend of Omar Khayyam.” Most recently, Apick returned to theater in the play “Beneath the Veil,” written and produced by her daughter, Mary Apick.
