This video demonstrates how an Open Sigmoidectomy with Hartmann's operation was done for a large bowel obstruction due to Cancer Sigmoid colon. This patient was operated on 23/01/2020 and discharged on 30/01/2020 fully recovered eating semisolid diet. Many of the colon cancers are curable if they are diagnosed early. When there is blood in the stools it is not piles always. That could be due to some other pathology like cancer colon. So it is mandatory to consult a surgeon on seeing the first bloody stools and undergo a test called colonoscopy. This test will tell you whether the bleeding is due to piles or other causes and the treatment can be done accordingly. One should not be reluctant in consulting if the bleeding stops in a day or two because even in cancer the bleeding stops in a day or two to start with. So consult your physician on the first day of seeing bloody stools.
