Prosecutors say stolen gun ties convicted felon to 9 recent Seattle shootings

A four-time convicted felon has been arrested again, accused of using a stolen gun to commit at least nine shootings throughout Seattle. That man is 26 years old. KOMO News is not yet naming him because he hasn't yet been charged with the latest series of crimes. Despite this, officers with the Seattle Police Department (SPD) said they connected the suspect to nine shootings within the city of Seattle since only October 6, 2024. When police searched the suspect's residence, prosecutors said they found two firearms within that specific body bag. When tracing both those firearms, detectives said they determined that the gun had been used in at least nine shootings in the last month-and-a-half. As a result of public safety worries, prosecutors successfully argued that the suspect should be held at the King County jail on $1,000,000 bail. A charging decision is expected by Wednesday evening. While KOMO News is not yet naming the suspect, a check of court records shows he's been convicted of four felonies dating back to 2015. Two of those cases involved assaults, while the other two involved robbery. In terms of stolen guns used in crimes, KOMO News learned the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office (KCPAO) recently hired an attorney who specializes in prosecuting cases of stolen or misreported firearms. In this capacity, she often acts as a liaison between different law enforcement agencies, connecting certain cases to specific stolen firearms. The move by KCPAO comes as SPD has warned of a sizeable increase in crimes being committed with stolen guns. As KOMO News reported in April 2023, a record number of guns had been recovered by officers during the prior months.
