In his final address to the nation yesterday, the eve of the 2016 general election, Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Kenny D. Anthony said the "din" of campaigning was over. Today, citizens from all walks of life quietly and calmly converged on the Choiseul Secondary School in the Choiseul/Saltibus constituency, to choose the next government. Voters expressed mostly satisfaction with the ease of the ballot process. "I came in and went to the line which moved at a fairly quick pace, although some others seemed not to be moving as quickly. The process was easy. The presiding officer gave every single person instructions and when you go in you hear the instructions again, so she was very thorough and accommodating." With a tropical wave bringing moderate to heavy showers, voter turnout, although slow, was steady, and incident free. Up in the hills of Saltibus, at the Saltibus Combined Primary School, police on duty related a similarly subdued atmosphere. "It has been very quiet. There have been zero incidents. Some voters are excited about their party, but we have had no concerns so far." On June 3, the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force and the Saint Lucia Fire Service turned out to vote in an advance poll ahead of today's general election. By tomorrow, returning officers will perform a final count and publicly declare the winning candidates. http://www.govt.lc/news/choiseul-vote...
